1861 Newton Heath, Lancashire, England census

Samuel Peplow, 32, shoemoker, born Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Sarah, 32, born Greenock, Scotland
JOHN, 9, born Manchester, Lancashire
Samuel, 5, "
Francis, 3, son, "
Caroline, 1, "

1871 Manchester, Lancashire, census

John Peplow, 20, shoemaker
Tryphele, 18

all of the above born in Manchester, Lancs.

1881 Wardleworth, Lancashire census

Tryphina Holt, 28, cotton weaver, born Manchester, married
Sam John Peplow, 11, son (enumerated as Lans John!!!)
Thomas Holt, 2, born Rochdale, Lancashire
Robert E. Holt, 4 months, "

Note: Tryphina's first husband, John Peplow, has obviously died or ?? and she has remarried (to a Thomas Holt). As the oldest Holt child in the household is just 2, I am guessing that she remarried about 1878, so her first husband, John Peplow must have died before that.

1891 Rochdale, Castleton, Lancashire census

Thomas Holt, 33
Tryphina, 38
Sam John Peplow, 21, stepson,
plus 7 Holt children.

Note: Samuel John Peplow's place of birth is marked as Lancashire (Salford). Salford may be the parish in which case, you could probably find parish records for this family.

There are millions of websites for England. Go to and then go to England, then Lancashire.
