Hi Jo-ann.
Not related but on a hunch I checked out - Hendersons NW Gazeteer and Directory - Rural Communities Only.
Under "New Oxley" (no longer in existance) in southern Alberta and found: Winder Ranche Co.
Another listing - "Immigrants to Canada - Extracts of 1887 Pertaining to Settlement in the West (NWT)"
Name of Lessee - Winder Ranche Co. 50,000 acres.
There is a Winder family in the area and listed as ranchers in the census, not farmers as is usual.
Hope this is the one. Yours truly, Gail R.
