Carl Emil Berg of Edmonton, active in labour movement 1919 on
Posted by: Ishbel Cormack (ID *****6074) Date: February 16, 2003 at 18:16:42
  of 1524

Carl Berg was Trades and Labour Council member and a active in building the One Big Union (UBO). He was born in Stockholm, Sweden between 1885 and 1895. I do not know when he died but the Beechmont Cemetery, Edmomton has a listing for a Carl Berg buried May 1, 1958. This might be him.

There was an article in the Edmonton Journal 1919, May 26 or a day or two after this about the Edmonton labour Council expelling some members. Carl may have been one of these.

In 1937 he is was a vice president and general rep. of the Trades and labour Congress in London .

I do not live in Edmonton but am trying to find out anything about C.E. Berg for a Ingrid Lahger in Sweden. Carl was her grandfather's cousin. She heard Carl E. on the radio between 1950 and 1955.

Any help would be appreciated.
