The most recent probate files - within the last 30 years....are held at the Courthouse in which the probate was conducted...

Keep in mind, not all people have their estate probated.
I believe it costs a fee at the Courthouse to conduct the search of the probate file and then a fee (I heard $1 per page) for photocopies.

If the courthouses conducts a search for the probate you are looking for and find that it isn't in their possession, they should provide you with an action number and let you know where the probate is held, which is usually the Provincial Archives of Alberta
