freebmd does show that Laura would have been born in about 1881, though - seems to fit with the 1911 census info.

http://www.ourroots.ca/e/page.aspx?id=242982 - from here, it sounds like the family also went to the Souris area in ND (there's one on either side of the border) - so the 1906 reference to Laura coming to Canada 1899 could have meant that's when she returned from the ND area?

Heighes of Great Falls Montana, Mr Clifford Heighes of Coaldale AB, 3 not present - Mrs Jones of Ulm Montana, Mrs Cokely of Comox BC, and Mrs John Edgerton of Souris North Dakota
