My mother's family name was Campion, a name not often found in geneology web sites. My great grand father emmigrated here from Ireland. My grandfather was James Henry Campion, born in Boston around 1869. He married Mary Ellen Gillan of New York. They had eleven children. They lived in New York, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Cincinati and finally Philadelphia. I understand that the name Campion originated in Normandy and from France spread throughout the world with many Campions in British Isles, United States, Australia and New Zealand.
