Campbells in VA and Then in Montgomery Co., TN
If there is a living male Campbell "out there" who descends from a Hugh Campbell who was in the Montgomery Co., TN area in the early-1800s, we really need him to take the Y chromosome DNA test via FTDNA.We would love to know how that family is related to any of the other "Campbell lines" that were in VA (and that already have some DNA donors in the Campbell DNA testing project).
There appears to have been two men named Hugh Campbell in Montgomery Co., TN in the early-1800s, and both were married to woman named Elizabeth. One wife was apparently the widow Mrs. Elizabeth (Campbell) Barrett (a daughter of a Neil Campbell of Amherst Co., VA) who married first to a Thomas Barrett and second to a Hugh Campbell (who had also been married previously), and the wife of the other (probably younger) Hugh Campbell was apparently Elizabeth Erwin/Ervine/Irvine.Sans other information, it is at least possible that the second Hugh Campbell (who married Elizabeth Erwin/Ervine/Irvine) might have been a son of the other (probably older) Hugh Campbell, via the first unknown wife of that other/older Hugh Campbell.
