Hi Carolyn This is what I have at this time...
Aylmer Edwin Campbell b-17-5-1818 either in Scotland or Ireland Died in Brisbane Australia 11-1-1854.
Parents were (I believe ) John Campbell and Eleanor Bourke.
He had a brother,John Keating Campbell, who definitely came to Australia and may also have had other brothers by the names Septimus and James and a sister Emma.
Aylmer immigrated to Australia in 1835.On the 4-3-1839 in Sydneys Scots Church he married Catherine A lexander from Ireland. They had several children-
John Thomas 1837 (our line)
Aylmer Edwin 1838
Annie 1840
Eleanor 1841
Catherine Charlotte 1843
Netterville Barton 1845
Edwin Septimus 1847
Emma 1848
Alexander George 1849
Emma Jessie 1851
Aylmer was a mariner and whilst in Brisbane was Captain of a boat called The Experiment which serviced Brisbane and Ipswich.
We were told at one point Aylmers father had a title which Aylmer turned down when he immigrated. Apparently he also spent some time in India and possibly China.
His brother John Keating Campbell married Charlotte Estube in Mauritis, also spent time in India and was in the 28th and 99th regiment. They had at least one son,John Henry Campbell.
That is all I have and would love to confirm if the information is accurate so as to continue going back further generations. Aylmer is very hard to trace as I have seen other people looking too !!
