Hugh and Esther Magill Campbell
My ancestor Charles Campbell was the son of Hugh and Esther Campbell.I got the will of Hugh Campbell (I think) from the Augusta Co VA site which names his children and lists John Magill and his son William Campbell as executers of his will. There is also a James Magill who apparently signed off on the list of Hugh's possessions. There is of mention of an Esther Magill here, and I've read/heard that it was most common for relatives to be involved in the execution/distribution of a persons estate. The fact that Magills are listed as instrumental in his estate gives another clue to the closeness of his probable inlaws. I've thought they must be from Ireland because they lived in Augusta Co. which was heavily populated with Scots who came from Ireland. So - when did these Campbells come to VA; did they come via PA and live there first?Has anyone ever found the ship they came on?I have information about Hugh's son Charles, (he fought in the Rev. War) and a lot of info about the later family.Charles brother and son each married Cherokee women and went west on the Trail of Tears.
