June,
I am a descendant of JOHN THOMAS whose will was probated 1806 in Greenville, SC. In his will he names his wife MARGARET and 10 children; John, James, CAMP, George, Joseph, Elizabeth, William, Isaac, Thomas Jefferson, and Nancy Ragsdale. Nancy married Larkin Ragsdale and Elizabeth married David Crawford.
I have speculated that Margaret was a "Camp" but I have no proof of that. John Thomas that died 1806 in Greenville lived on Horse Creek, a branch of the Reedy River, and lived next to Thomas Camp. In Deed Book E of Greenville, SC on page 109, Sept. 25, 1797, Thomas Camp and wife Mary sold land to John Thomas.
This John Thomas came from Caswell Co. N.C. He was the son of John Thomas that died in 1765 in Orange Co. NC.
This is an abstract out of "The Minutes of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of Orange Co. N.C. 1752 - 1766"
Page 360: JOHN THOMAS (aged 8) son of John Thomas, dec'd, bound to JOHN CAMP till 21.
Can you please help me. Do you have a record of a Margaret Camp that married John Thomas of Greenville, SC? I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Naomi Vickers
