Hugh Nesbitt Camp (1814-1895) (m E McKesson)
Hi to all the Camps! I am the vicar at Saint James Episcopal Church in the Bronx, and have been researching Hugh N Camp who was one of our prominent lay leaders in the 19th century (he served on the vestry for 32 years!). We have a beautiful Tiffany stained-glass window given in memory of him, and I've just posted some info on the window and the man at the parish web site. I was most interested to discover that he was one of those behind the creation of the New York water supply system, including the Jerome Park Reservoir (named for Leonard W Jerome, grandfather of Winston Churchill, who owned the race track upon which the reservoir was later built!) Anyway, the link to the article is at http://stjamesf.dioceseny.org/truevine.htmhttp://stjamesf.dioceseny.org/truevine.htm
Enjoy this beautiful window, and the quote on the future of the Bronx from Mr. Camp!
