I have David and Mary CAMAK and all their children of "Pralle City" (which no one can find), County Down, Ireland who are said to have immigrated in the late 1700s or early 1800s. Their sons, James Camak and Moses Camak, his brother, filed for citizenship in 1808 & 1809 in the Fairfield District of SC. The clerk, who wrote out their papers spelled their names as "Cammack", but they both signed as CAMAK.

This is a pretty slim straw, but your Alexander is the first Camak/whatever from County down I have come across.
