My ancestor, DONALD CAMPBELL MCKENZIE, b. ca. 1851 Huntingdon Co., Quebec married ELIZABETH CURRAN May, 1885 in Prescott Co., Ontario. The marriage record for this couple indicates that Donald McKenzie's parents were RODERICK MCKENZIE and LILY CAMERON. I have not been able to locate Lily (or husband, Roderick) in any census records. I wonder if she went by a different name. (Donald and Elizabeth (Curran) McKenzie named a daughter Lillian). Since Donald C. McKenzie was born bet. 1848-1851 per various records, then he would have been a very small infant/child or perhaps his mother was pregnant and awaiting his birth in 1851. Either way, his parents, Roderick and Lily (Cameron) McKenzie, should show up somewhere in Canada in the 1851 Census. Yet, I have had no luck in finding them. I believe that Donald McKenzie may be related to the Glengarry Co. McKenzies who resided very near the Curran family in neighboring Prescott Co. I am new to doing research in Canadian records, but in looking at maps of the area, Glengarry Co. appears to be just across the river from Huntingdon Co., Quebec where Donald McKenzie was reportedly born. Were there Cameron families in Glengarry as well? Another clue comes from an old family photo album, which shows a photo of Catherine E. McKenzie, sister of Donald C. McKenzie. Handwritten notes in the album indicate that she married a man named Render in Malone, New York. Malone is just across the border from Huntingdon Co., Quebec. (Census records validate that Catherine married Jonathan Render but it appears that the couple resided down present-day Hwy. 11 in Antwerp, Jefferson Co., New York). Donald and Elizabeth migrated with a couple of the Curran siblings to the central valley farmlands of California ca. 1886 and that is where my line continues to this day... It appears from searching this forum that there are a number of McKenzie and Cameron connections. Any help appreciated.
