Further, Nancy Cameron, the wife of Hugh Samuel Cameron. She was the first cousin to Jessie Cameron Norman's Mother who was also a Cameron. The following is the Obit for Hugh Samuel Cameron, brother to Jessie Norman's father: "September 14th 1899 ...another well known pioneer of Finch Township passed away on August 25th, in the person of Hugh Samuel Cameron. Deceased was born in Fort William, Invernessshire, Scotland in the year 1817, and crossed the Atlantic with his father, the late Samuel Cameron, together with other members of the family 78 years ago. After a short stay at Lancaster at the old house of Sir Roderick Cameron[Note: son of Duncan 'the furtrader'...mc] they moved to Finch and took up a forest house on the second concession in the neighberhood of what is now known as Camertontown. Here the son took up the pioneer work of those early days in the history of the country. At the early age of fifteen he ran his first trip to Quebec with timber which work he followed for twenty successive years, after which he retired to the work of the farm. The deceased was one of those who responded to the call of duty in the rebellion of '37='38. In politics he was a staunch Conservative, in religion a Prebyterian. His illness which was due to the infirmities of his age, was borne with a true Christian spirit. He leaves to journ his loss, his wife and five children==four sons and one daughter==who have the sympathy of the entire community in this their hour of affliction. Service was conducted by rev. J.L. Miller, assisted by Rev. A.W. MacIntyre. The text chosen for the occasion was John 9, 4...the pallbearers were James MacMillan, Wm. McRae, D.P. McKinnon, J.J. MacIntyre, William Campbell, B. Adams." Cameron. The deceased had been an invalid for over three years and bore her illness with a true Chrisitan spirit, being conscious until the end. Her maiden name was Nancy Cameron. She was in her 82nd year, and was born near St. Andrews, Quebec. Possessed of a kindly, sympathetic characger she was held in very high regard by her many friends. The funeral took place on Saturday at her late residence, west of the village, and was very largely attended. The pastor, Rev. Mr. Bell[my aunt's father....mc]concudcted the service, assisted by Rev. Mr. Stewart. Four sons, Messrs. Donald, John, Duncan and Samuel and one daughter, Elizabeth are left to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted mother. They had the sympathy of the entire community in their sore bereavement. All were present excepting Mr. Samuel Cameron who lives in Edmonton, Alta. The pallbearers were Messrs. Benjamin Adams, Donald McMillan, Wm. MacLeod, D.G. McMillan, Allan A. Cameron."
