Hello T Dehler,
I am Charles Beverly Cameron the GR GR GR Grandson of James Cameron B 2-10-1800. I have been conducting research on James and his decesendants for 23 years.I have hit the brick wall on where and when James and his son Wm Carruthers Cameron came from. The earliest record is in the 1830 census and court records for Rockville, Indiana. James married Selena Mann of Sullivan, Indiana in 1827.In 1836 James and his growing family moved to Burlington, Iowa and in 1837 he was appointed the 1st Sheriff of Des Moines County Iowa. From his second marriage, he had 10 children (7 sons and 3 daughters).James died on 11-10-1845 from a self inflicted gunshot wound. My GR GR Grandfater was Wm Carruthers Cameron who was born on 3-21-1820 and he is listed in the 1837 family Bible that I have.I have over 450 decsendants of James and Wm Cameron. One of Wm's sons was named Arthur Worthington Cameron (b 1852-d 1934).Family tradition is to reuse names over and over again.I can be emailed at [email protected] free to contact me and we can exchange info about our large families.
Thanks Chuck...
