Cambron variation of Cameron, ca 1233
Looking for info about "Cambron" as a variation of the Cameron surname. The Cameron Online website lists this surname variation circa 1233.On the same website, the listing of Chiefs of Clan Cameron shows the following:
IV. ROBERT CAMERON:
Alive prior to 1200, referred to as Robert "Cambron". Died early
in the reign of Alexander II.
Succeeded by his eldest son:
Is there any significance to this variation, i.e. was it a deliberate change made by Robert, or perhaps by his enemies?Does anyone have any info, or suggestions for further research?
Thanks,
Matthew Cambron
