Hampton - Vernon W. Camden
Vernon W. Camden, 72, of 63 Salem Street, died Thursday in Piney River.
He was born in Nelson County and had been a Peninsula resident for 35 years.
In 1979 he retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as a supervisor after 28 years.
He was a member of West Hampton Baptist Church and a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Magdalene Camden; a daughter Mrs. Joan Locey of Hampton; two sons, Bobby Camden of Hampton and Lendell Camden of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Moore of Lynchburg, and Mrs. Thelma Adylotte of Newport News; a brother James H. Camden of Amherst; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Peninsula Funeral Home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Building Fund of West Hampton Baptist Church, Hampton 23661.
