Based on census records we know that Bartley W. Camden was alive when the 1860 census was taken and had died prior to the taking of the 1870 census. I recently had an opportunity to go through the 1862-1870 personal property tax records and found that Bartley is shown in Rockbridge County through 1865 and does not appear in following years. Based on these records I believe we can assume that Bartley died after the taking of the 1865 taxes and prior to the taking of the 1866 taxes. The microfilms list some dates for the taking of taxes but not all are readable. Will try to get dates of the 1865 and 1866 taxes. Hope this helps someone!!
