Hi, Michelle -

Perhaps our FERNANDES are related? Mine were religious exiles from Madeira ca 1846-1854... many settled in Jacksonville, IL. The FERNANDES, VIEIRA, GOUVEIA, and GOMES surnames were common among us exiles.

Our gg-grandfather was Thomé FERNANDES, born Dec1832 on Madeira, died 6Apr1903 in Jacksonville, IL.

Do you know if your relatives were Presbyterian or Catholic?

Check our website for much more info... http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~madeira.

Look forward to hearing from you.
Deb Kleber
