Dear Mr. R Calvo:
I tried to send the letter to your email, but it always returned to me. let me thank you for this very beautiful information and coat of arms, it’s very kind from you sending it to me.
I have read the history of the family and I enjoyed it very much. It’s clear that this illutritious family had and has many celebrities and contributions in the history of Italy , France and many other countries, but I would like to ask you something which is not mentioned in the history ( I am looking for it) and I would be very grateful to you if you can answer me : You know Dear Bob that the people of Genoa had a great part in the Crusades. The example is the Embriaci, the Grimaldi… but did the Calvi take part in the Crusades??? I ask because in Sidon, Lebanon there is an ancient monastery ( now in ruins) which name is “Monastery of the Calo” , and it’s said that this monastery was a chapel of a Crusader and it was destroyed by the Saracens after the Crusaders evacuated the city. In the Semitic languages there is no “v” ,they pronounce it as “o” , so they say “Calo” to Calvo.
Another question Dear Mr. Bob: in Milano, Savoy, Piedmont, Spain they are some Calvi, are they relatives to the Calvi of Genoa and Sicily?? And the counts of Bergolo, are they from the same Calvo family???
I found a link which has the coat of Arms of the Calvi:
I thank you in advance
Best Regards Jack
