Greetings to Kay from southern Oregon:
Was glad to get your message.I know my Calvits are related to yours but just can't seem to get the one connection.
Was glad to get your message.I know my Calvits are related to yours but just can't seem to get the one connection. My gggrandmother was Rosanna Calvit from Natchitoches Parish, LA.She was married at about age 16 to Elijah Mitchell at the home of her mother (marriage certificate calls her Mrs. Calvit) in Feb. 1855.She had two children. She next married in 1860 Mitchell Edwards (called Soon Edwards) and lived in the Cotile, Lena, Cloutierville area of Louisiana. She had four children by him.

Calvit. But I dont' know the names of her parents.I did see something that said John Calvit was the half-brother of Coleman Martin Calvit, whose father was Anthony Calvit, from the Mississippi Calvits that you descend from.Anthony Calvit was a prominent plantation owner from Rapides Parish whose first wife died around 1815.Timewise, he could have married my Rosanna's mother and had two children b;y her but I can't figure why Rosanna and John are never mentioned in everything that is written about the Calvits.I don't think they were even included in Anthony Calvit's will.
