Dear Laura,

According to "A Biographical Dictionary of the Maryland Legislature 1635-1789" by Papenfuse, Day, Jordan, & Stiverson, his father was probably Robert BRAINTHWAITE who was probably a son of Edward BRAINTHWAITE. Edward married a member of the CALVERT family.

Since he is referred to as a cousin of Leonard and Cecilius CALVERT in that book, I would assume that it is a certainty. However, it is not clear exactly how.

Yours,
Rick
