You may want to look in the area of Belmont County Ohio. I have traced my great-great grandfather, John Calvert, to this county. His son, James William Calvert, was born there. He later moved to Iowaand settled in Appanoose County.
Like you, I cannot find any further information. Out old family records give John's father as Jacob. However, I cannot substantiate this.
There is a website for Belmont County. I have E-mailed a lady there, but did not receive a response. If I turn anything that may indicate we are looking for the same people, I will let you know.
