Your Mother's story may be closer to the truth than you think. I also heard the same thing in the 1940's. My aunt had hired Anita Calvert Bourgeoise to track our lineage to prove "our claim" in the early 1900's and as late as the 1940's there was talk of getting money as another aunt was taking up the cause. Believe that my Father signed some papers in regard to his claim but have no idea what happened. Would love to know what happened to Mrs. Bourgeoise's records. If you find Western Calvert Heirs Assoc. they might know.
