George B. Calvert was born, 7 Jun 1866, third of seven children of William and Eliza (Holladay) Calvert.William was born in England in 1834, and he died 15 Jan 1918, age 84.At age four, William was brought to Ontario by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Calvert. William was raised and educated in Ontario, and became a building contractor and erected his first sawmill in Ontario.He was a foreman on the building of the Erie Canal.In 1880, William moved to Winnipeg, Canada, where he worked as a building contractor until 1884 when he came to Helena, MT, and continued as a building contractor for several years. He located to Anoka, MN, as a contractor up to 1888, then located to Great Falls, MT, until 1907 when William & Eliza moved to Tacoma, WA, where they spent their remaining days.In Ontario, Canada, William married Eliza Holladay, who was born in the north of Ireland in 1835, and died in 1914, age 79.
George B. Calvert received his education in Ontario and Winnipeg.Completing his education, he became associated with his father in the contracting business from 1880 to 1901.They came to Montana in 1887.In 1901, George B. Calvert carried on a successful contracting business alone.
On 21 Sep 1890, George B. Calvert married Minnie M. Patterson, born in Springfield, IL.They had four children:Alice (Mrs. Herbert H. Bell, Dallas, TX), Bessie (Mrs. R.W. Page, Great Falls, MT), George C. and Jerald.
George B. Calvert died 9 Mar 1943, age 76, Great Falls, MT
Minnie M. Calvert died 18 Aug 1945, age 81, Great Falls, MT
