In support of this possibility, I can add that my Calvet ancestors came from France, starting in 1685 when the Edict of Nantes was revoked by Louis IV, and settled in Spitalfields. In fact, Jean Calvet was a Huguenot minister in St. Rome de Tarn, France, and became a pastor of the main Huguenot church in England, which was on Threadneedle Street in Spitalfields.
