Barbara,

Your grandfather, Andrew Jackson Calvert, was born on Oct. 3, 1877 in Cleburne, Texas. His wife was Mabel (Shepard) Calvert. They had five children: Roy, Lieuella, Lieucile, Fern, and Andrew Jackson. Your grandfather went by the name "Jack", rather than Andrew. (This maybe your greatgrandfather, however your message said your grandfather was born in 1877.)

Your greatgrandfather was John Calvert. He was born on Sept. 6, 1826 in Alabama. (probably Madison Co., Al.) He died Oct. 12, 1882, Cleburne, Johnson Co., Texas. His first wife's name was Paralee (surname unknown), she was born 1833 in Tennessee and died before Dec. 1876. There were 5 childern by this first marriage:

i. Mary A. Calvert , b. 1855 in Missouri.
ii. Sarah J. Calvert b. 1857 in Missouri.
iii. J. A. Calvert (male) b. 1860 in Texas; married a "Paine".
iv. J. C. Calvert b. 1865, Texas.

John Calvert married Sarah Williams on Dec. 14, 1876. Sarah was born May 2, 1849 in Des Moines, Iowa. They had one child:

vi. A. Jack Calvert, born Oct. 3, 1877.

Going further back the line, your great-greatgrandfather was Jonathan Calvert. He was born about 1790 (census) in Tennessee and died about 1871. He married Sarah Moon, who died about 1865. They had 9 children with John being the 3rd child. Jonathan Calvert's parents are said to have come from England. He was married in either Tennessee or Alabama. The family migrated to Missouri and then on to Texas.

The original source for this information was a questionnaire completed by your grandfather (the one born 1877). This questionnaire was sent to the old "Western Calvert Heirs Association", which is probably where the Lord Baltimore rumors started. I have more information, but nothing beyond Jonathan Calvert. This is not my family line.
