I am a distant relative of yours from England.
My great great grandfather was Robert John Calton, born in Old Luce, near Stranraer in Scotland in 1809. He married Rosana Mclean on 24 May 1836 in Old Luce. Robert was the son of Matthew Calton and Elizabeth Calton (nee Clark). Matthew was a miller by trade and his son Robert followed his footsteps. He and Rosana went to Capetown to build a mill in 1936, where they raised a family of six children, including your great grandmother Marian Jane Calton (b ~1850) and my great grandfather John Maxwell Calton (b 1842).
John Maxwell Calton married Henrietta Jane Bryers and they had eight children - Elizabeth (1869-1910), Ruth Agnes (1872-?), John Maxwell jr. (1875-?), Matthew George (1877-1917), Robert Beresford (1879-?), William Edward (1881-1884), William Edward II (1886-1970) and Harry St Clair (1888-?). The second William Edward (born in 1886 after the death of a brother with the same names) was my grandfather.
William Edward Calton (Jan-01-1886 to Jan-17-1970) married Elizabeth Donnelly and they had eight children, one of whom was my father James Edward Bruce Calton, born on Oct-10_1910 in Dublin, Ireland. He had five brothers and two sisters. Father died on Jan-06-1988. I have two brothers, Edward James (1946-) and Andrew John (1951-) and a sister Julia Mary(1956-). I was born April-30-1949.I also have two children, Benjamin James (1977-) and Samantha Louise (1977-).
Can you please provide any information about the descendants of your great grandmother Marian, her siblings and their descendants. Please let me know if I can help your research
