Thanks for your reply.

I really think the name of the family who died in the flood was spelt CALTON rather than COLTON but I haven't managed to prove this for sure.

I have just found a GRO reference for Christopher CALTON and have now sent for his death certificate to see if this will confirm he drowned and, hopefully, confirm the spelling of his name.

I will let you know when I receive the certificate.
