I have been doing some Lawrence county research on the Calton family for a friend of mine. I think that your Calton fits in to this family.

John Wesley Calton married Arminda Ross in Rossville IL Aug 9, 1861 This info was gleaned from a message posted by Nora Ross. Nora lists 9 children: Virgina buried in IN
Sadie (Nora says that in 2000 was living in Murfressbobo TN with a grandson-in-law), Carl buried in IN, John Calton(who married Artie Downing in 1892), Nora who married Christian Guessler and lived near Lawrenceburg), Elmer Calton married Alice Knell moved to MO), Ira marred Ella Brown had a son Roscoe who married Hattie Chambers and lived near Lawrenceburg, Mary married Walter Kidd, and Myrtle who married James Kidd.

John Westley parents were Sarah and Henry T. Calton who moved to Lawrence co in 1884 leaving another son Rev. Henry N. Calton in Burlington, IN

Jorh and Arminda are shown on the 1900 Lawrence Co Census District 10 dwelling number 59 family 62. with childreb Ira R bn IN, Rosco C bn IN, Many L bn 1883 in IN, Minnie M born 1886 in TN.

In the Elisha Rand McAnally family info on the internet, I found Hattie M Chambers and Roscoe C. Calton and their children Sadie Lou Calton, ERNEST HOMER Calton, Lizzie Maude Calton, Cladys Calton, Ollie May Calton, HOMER (RICHANDSON) Calton, Opal Calton. According to a family menber there were three who had nicknames: Mack, Chub and Slim.

Homer R. Calton died in 1997
My friend, Homer Newman Calton, is the son of Homer who
was Homer Richardson. There is a possibliby that Ernest Homer in this list should be Handley since I know that Homer was used for Homer R. name.and that H. R. named his son Ernest Homer

Nora Ross's message was posted on http://genforum.genealogy.com/calton/messages/36.html
You can answer there or check for email address and email them personally unless shehas closed down that email
There is also one one the same family posted Sept. 20, 2002 by Tonya at http://genforum.genealogy.com/calton/messages/83.html

Maybe those two can help you out some. Good Luck
