Thanks for the info! I have actually discovered some stuff on my Calmeses in the last few months. Sounds very different. My Calmeses were from Belgium (and Luxembourg before that). They were all Catholics, so no Hugenot connection. Immigrated in 1870s to W. New York State, from there branched out into Wisconsin and also California. I found a Calmes of my line born c. 1730 in Lux. That's as far back as I could go.

Interesting to hear about parallel lines, though, thanks for replying!
