This is my line also. A lot of people on the internet are saying she was Mary Galloway, but all the early Pitts books say Mary Calloway, daughter of Thomas Calloway or Callaway.
While I do believe that the surname Calloway probably was originally Galloway (contrary to what Calloway researchers have said in the past), if anyone has found any proof that Mary Pitt's maiden name was correctly Galloway rather than Calloway, I have never heard of that information nor been directed to it.
The earliest reference I have found so far for Mary Calloway Pitt is Doreecie Pierce's book on the Pitts from the 1950s and the Colonial Dames applications of Mrs. Pierce and her daughter Mariana Frost, who compiled the PITTS ADDENDA as well as the later version of her mother's book. I don't know if that is based on an earlier family trees based on traditional sources or Boddie or where that information comes from.
