letters written by a Jane Callow from Ballabeg, Bentleigh, IOM, they are dated 1912 and 1913, they are written to her
nephew (my mother in law’s grandfather) James Henry Moore, my mother in law has snippets of information, but,
would like to know about the callow relation, here is what she knows:
Jane Callow and family moved to Australia somewhere near Victoria the place name starts with a B (my mother in law
has told me the name and I have forgotten it at this crucial time!! I will ask her again tomorrow) around 1900s, a
Simon Callow from Australia visited James Henry Moore in Liverpool during WW1, we have a photo of Simon in a military
uniform, on the 1881 census James Henry Moore lived at 4 Athol Square, Onchan, IOM, he was 3 years old, his brother
John Edward Moore was 1 years old, they were both born in Douglas, their father was Henry Moore was aged 26 and was
born in Ramsey, his wife Margaret Frances Moore (nee Maxwell) was also 26 years old and born in Ramsey, John Edward
Moore was killed in WW1 aged 37 on 9th April 1917.Here are the letters we have, I have typed them to make it
easier to read, I have also left the spelling as it is written, could not understand a couple of words so I have left
question marks.
