Lt. James Calhoun was in the 7th US Cavalry out of Fort Riley, Kansas. He was married to Margaret Custer, sister of General George Armstrong Custer. James and his troups were the first to engage battle with Chief Crazy Horse of the Cheyenne & Chief Sitting Bull of the Lakota Souix. Lt. James and his troups were completely wiped out in the skirmish.
I have no idea who his parents were or when & where he was born. I am pretty sure that he did not have any children. Margaret was with him just before he went to battle and she did not have any children with her.
Let me know if you have any other information that I may not have.
Best Regards,
Owen Calhoun
