John Calhoun and Margaret Morrison
My head is just spinning from reading a lot of the messages on this forum and decided I need help.
I am trying to trace my grandmother, Bessie Warren to the Calhoun family line.Am I on the right track? This is what I have so far starting with James Calhoun who was the son of James Patrick Calhoun and Catherine Montgomery.
1.James Calhoun (b.1716 in Donegal, Ireland d. 2/1/1760 in the Long Cane Indian Massacre)
Married Susannah "Nancy" Long in Cumberland Co. PA
James and Nancy Calhoun's son:
2.James Calhoun II (b. 1739 in PA d. 1787 in Abbeville District, SC)Married Jennet Johnston (b. ?d. about 1787)
James Calhoun II and Jennet's son:
3.Samuel Calhoun "Big Sam" (b. 1764 d. 1828 in Montgomery Co., GA) Married Mary Hargroves (b. about 1775 d.? in Montgomery Co. GA)
Samuel Calhoun and Mary Hargroves son:
4.James Irving Calhoun (b. 1795 in Barnwell Dist., SC and d. 1882 in Montgomery County, GA) Married 1. Mary McLewrath (b. 1785 in Barnwell, SC; married 1812; d. 1850) 2. Elizabeth Collins (married 1864)
James Irving Calhoun and Mary McLewrath's son:
5.John Calhoun (b. about 1822 and d. about 1849) Married Margaret Morrison Calhoun (b. about 1814 and d. ?)
John Calhoun and Margaret Calhoun had four children:
6.James (b. about 1837)
6.William Alexander (b. about 1839)
6.Margaret E. (b. about 1846)
6.Drusilla (b. about 1849)
6.Drusilla Calhoun (my great grandmother) married James Warren in 1885 in Emanuel, GA and they had three children:
James L. Warren
Joseph Warren
Bessie L. Warren (b. about 1896) (My grandmother)
Bessie Warren married Melvin Leroy Hair.
Am I following the correct Calhoun family line?
Thanks for your help.I appreciate it.
Suzanne
