Hi, Kris!
Surely your John Archie Calhoun fits in that NC line.
My g-g-g-g grandfather was Archibald Colquhoun (Calhoun). My g-g-g-g grandmother was Isabel Colquhoun. Archibald and his brothers were mentioned in the 1790 census of Cumberland County, NC.

Archibald had 9 kids- the baby, Dugald, was my g-g-g grandfather.
