Thanks for your message. I do not think that is "our Alphaeus"but there may be a connection that I am not aware of as the name is an odd one. Maybe a cousin - our Alphaeus was born in 1915 and is my mothers half brother.
As you know Andrew Jackson was one of the brothers of Alphaeus ( middle name Baker )and also John C.
My uncle Al ( Alphaeus Baker Calhoun Jr.), Alphaeus's only son and only child actually is still living on his farm in Carthage Texas and is 88 years old and going strong - he remembers the family and in fact gave me all their names
before I found them in the census records etc - and I have been to the family grave sites in Alabama as well
I asumeyou have the list of children in the rootsweb etc
we are all looking for the father of Loami Galloway it seems. There is another cousin in Tyler Texas that is a descendent of John C. the eldest brother and I had some info on him - I seem to be missing some of my research info though so will have to look more. I can call Uncle Al and see if he remembers anything else aboutyour Andrew - he is full of stories! I think most of the Calhouns stayed in Alabama but John went to Tyler area and was a preacher and Alphaeus Sr was in La around Orange (Tx)for a while before moving to Houston and is buried there. Our family lore is that Loami came from Abbeville SC to teach school. I have recentlyreceived info from someone else with a lot of Calhoun info but still cannot make the connection. What are are you in ? I am in Atlanta.
