James E. Calhoun, planter in Claiborne, Co., Miss., was the son of Ezekiel Calhoun, Sr. and Margaret Carlisle. His brothers were Ezekiel W.Calhoun = Amelia A. Rail, daughter of John Rail; Henry N. Calhoun(don't know who or if he married, but he lived in Lawrence Co., MS); John C. Calhoun. In 1830, James E. and Henry N. were in Covington County, Mississippi.James E. and Christian Gordon married in 1833 in Claiborne County. This was James' first marriage. On 2 October 1865, James E. Calhoun of Caliborne County received a confederate pardon. He is described as being a resident of Claiborne County for 45 years(not true) and now 57 years old, a planter, six feet one inch, with a florid complexion, gray hair, and hazel eyes.He had a couple of sisters as well.Margaret died in Natchez, Adams County, MS in 1838, I think.Ezekiel, Sr. had died in 1827, I think.
