Rites Held Aug. 25 For Vance Calhoun
Vance O. Calhoun, 64, died at his home near Tarrytown early Saturday morning, August 25.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 Sunday in the chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Woodall officiating.Burialwas in Tarrytown Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Anderson Calhoun, four sons, Harold Calhoun of Tarrytown,D. O. Calhoun of Jacksonville, T. A. Calhoun of Valdosta, and C. C. Calhoun of Athens; Two daughters, Mrs. H. R. Stephens of Lakeland, Ga., and Mrs. L. E. Odom of Tampa; two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Lowery of Soperton, and Mrs. C. H. Branch of Houston Texas; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Allie Lowrey
Mrs. Allie Lowrey, 89, Soperton died Saturday morning February 11.
Mrs. Lowrey, a native of Montgomery County, was a daughter of the late Daniel O. Calhoun and the late Mrs. Lillie Stanford Calhoun.She was married to the late John Lewis Lowrey and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Soperton.She was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Treutlen County School System for fifteen years.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Jimmie Sue Mullen, Soperton; Mrs. W. E. Taylor, Jr., Augusta, Miss Frances Lowrey , Atlanta; a sister, Mrs. Charles Branch, Houston, Texas; 2 grandchildren, William Lowrey Taylor, Roswell; Mrs. Susan Taylor Holcomb, Columbus; 2 great grandchildren, Brent Taylor and Emily Taylor, Roswell.
Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist Church at 3 o'clock Sunday, with the Rev. Gene Brooks officiating.Burial was in Westview Cemetery with Sammons Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Bill Hall, Delmas Wheeler, Marcus Simons, Charles Ricks, Hughes Fisher, and Frank Radford, Jr.
