CALDWELL Ancestry and DNA
Posted by: Jim Bartlett (ID *****2496) Date: October 15, 2010 at 11:54:03

My Ancestry includes:

3416,       CALDWELL, Joseph b 19 Aug 1655 Donegal, Ireland; d 3 Sep 1730 Ulster, Donegal, Ireland; m
1708,       CALDWELL, John b 9 Jan 1682/3 Ulster, Donegal, Ireland; d 6 Oct 1750 Charlotte Co, VA; m
854,       CALDWELL, Thomas b 10 Apr 1706 Donegal, Ireland; d Jan 1770 Cub Creek, Charlotte Co, VA
427,       CALDWELL, Mary [?Thankful] b 1728 Lancaster Co, PA; d 1787 Augusta Co, VA

I have recently taken the new Family Finder DNA test, which would match me with a cousin from any of my ancestors. The FF test has provided 89 matches, so far, and working with them has resulted in 9 new confirmed cousins (from 3rd to 10th), with DNA that passes through 23 of my surnames, but not including CALDWELL.

If anyone who descends from one of the above persons took the Family Finder DNA test, you would probably match with me, and we would both then be able to confirm our ancestry (through matching DNA) from ourselves back to the ancestor we have in common.

In addition, I would be very interested if anyone has Y-DNA or mtDNA tested for this family.

I hope to hear from some interested cousins,
