I've been trying to find information on James Caldwell (b. 1784 Ireland) and his brother, John (b. 1786), both settled in Mercer/ Crawford counties, PA. James had at least 13 children with his wife, Pheobe Havens (b. 1786, Scotland), all born in PA. My line to James moved to Buchanan county IA in the late 1850's, early 1860's. I don't have a link to your Alexander, but it is likely that he is one of James' grandsons. If you want more information, let me know. And of course, if you have any to share.... I'm specifically looking to how/when/why James and John got to NW PA.
