Thank you so much for the Revolutionary War information. I go to the D.A.R. Library frequently and don't think I have ever looked up any records for him, since the one I saw previously was proven to be incorrect. I'm glad you have joined on him to get him in the records. I have a couple of others that no one has joined on, so I should try to add them, but it is so involved, I have not felt up to messing" with it.
You can see in other messages that some researchers feel she was the daughter of James McEwen and Isabella Steuart. I do have a copy of a wil for James McEwen, and he does name a daughter, Margaret Caldwell, but I was never sure about it. His wife is not named in the will; it was in 1781. If you would like a copy, I will mail it to you if you can e-mail me your home address. I also have a copy of William Caldwell's will, in case you do not have that.
