I found a Dr. Joseph Caldwell of Butler County married to an Ann Smith, daughter of William Smith, Sr. and Mary Caldwell Smith of Tyrone County. I also found a Joseph Caldwell in 1899 as an "inmate of the Home for Aged Protestants."
