I am looking for information about the CALDWELLs who settled in the Tulare and Kern County, CA areas in the late 1800s. John E. and James Robert (Bob) Caldwell owned and operated a 960 acre cattle ranch known as the French Ranch as well as an 800 acre ranch in Granite, Kern County, California, in 1909. Their father, William Alexander F. Caldwell, M.D., gave up his medical practice and settled with his family in the White River area of Tulare County, Calif. In 1883. I am looking for information on: William Alexander F. CALDWELL, M.D., (b.1826, Alabama) a surgeon during the Civil War in and around Sumner, Miss. He was married to Sarah J. COCHRAN, (b. 1838, Alabama). They had 10 children. I know the names the following: John E. CALDWELL (the 3rd child, born in Miss.) James Robert CALDWELL, (b. 1868, Sumner, Miss.) Married to Laura M. COOK, (died 1-17-1913 in Tulare Co., CA). They had 4 children: Claude, Alice, Harry and Walter. Harry Alexander CALDWELL(b. 1901, Arizona) Married to Maybella Richmond WILLIAMS (b. 1907, Richmond, CA). Other children: Eleanor J. Caldwell, b. 1870; Verdo Alonzo Caldwell, b. 8-28-1877; Addie Caldwell, b. 1882.
