I have a little information on the Caldwells. Some of them were in Hudson, NH, earlier known as Nottingham West. Some lived in Portsmouth for a while.
I have been working on my line of John Mitchel that lived in Hudson. He had a neighbor named John Caldwell and wife Isabel Wason. This John Caldwell signed as witness to my John Mitchel's Will. Later a James Caldwell bought land belonging to my John Mitchel from his widow Jeanet.
I am trying to find a connection to the Caldwells, believing that John Mitchel's wife Jeanet was a Caldwell. No proof.
Something of interest John and Jeanet's grandson's name was Oliver. I have seen the Caldwell History and the mention of an Oliver. Also, the name Alexander Caldwell turning up in these families living in Hudson. The Wason family is married into the Caldwells and both families came from Antrim County, North Ireland. One group from Ballymena and the other from Clough.
