My name is Mark Samples and I am connected to the Caldwell family through my mother, Dora Angeline Caldwell Samples. Her father (my grandfather) was Albert Blair Caldwell, b. April 13, 1876. His death certificate lists him as being born in Pennsylvania. He died January 23, 1924, from drowning in the Elk River in Clay County, West Virginia. The death certificate also lists his father as being Allison Caldwell (no other information given) and his mother's maiden name as Thomas (no other information given). Albert's wife was Felicity Alice Chapman Metz (my grandmother).
Years ago my mother told me that Albert came from Pennsylvania and the names Armstrong and Crawford counties stand out in my mind. At any rate, I cannot find any information that goes beyond what I have told you.
Would you have anything that might shed some light on my ancestors?
