Linda; I have found two Manuel Caldera's in family search .org one was christened on Dec. 12th 1867 his father was Bartolo Caldera, and his Mother was Crecencia Lopes born in Tepetongo,Zacatecas, the other was christened June 19th 1775 San Juan Bautista, Sombrerete, Zacatecas his name was Manuel,Basilio Caldera Burciaga and his father was also Bartolo Caldera his mother was Juana Burciaga they had a son they named Manuel, this one could be his grandfather the first one fits the time line to be our grandfather my mothers father, our grandfather was 31 years old when he married our grandmother so take 31 from 1898 and we get about 67 which would be the christing date of the first Manuel Caldera, the second Manuel Caldera was the son A Manuel also, question could the first Manuel had a son he named Bartolo who named his son Manuel after his father, all of this would make sense as in those days they were sent to different places and they were married, often more than once, I also found that my gradfather had been married before he had married our grandmother, and I have only found one Bartolo Caldera who was married to Maria Conception Modesta married in 18th Dec. 1850 San Bartolome Valle De Allende, Chihuahua, and the mother of our grandfather was Calletana Pena, but the paper only names Zacatecas, not a town or rather a pueblo or fort this can get cofusing but we do the best we can.
Good luck in your search, after I finish my family pictures from the time I was a baby to the time my son had their children I think I'll go back and try to piece my mothers fathers family together.
yor distant cousin John,Diego, Pedro, Caldera, Navarrette/Navarrete or in Spanish the name Caldera would be at the end of our name.
