Jane Calder was, as you probably know, a daughter of Joseph Calder (1770-1850) and Marion Dunn (1771-1834). Jane married Phillip Vermilyea, probably about 1820 give or take a few years, and had a number of children by him -- in the 1850 census of York Township, Noble County, Indiana there were children Abram, Joseph, Elizabeth R., and Arabella. I think there were probably more children. Jane was a few years older than Phillip, who was born 2 Feb 1803 and died 22 Feb 1876. Jane must have died between 1850-1865, most likely in Indiana. Joseph married 2nd a woman named Lucy Higginbotham Bolger, probably a widow, and had more children by her. I have been researching the Calder family off and on for several years, although this family belongs to my ex-husband's ancestry and not my own. My ex (now deceased) was descended from Jane's brother, the Rev. Alexander Calder (1793-1879) and his wife Affa Waldron. Other siblings to Jane and Alexander were Joseph Calder, Ann Calder (1803-1825) wife of Joseph Newton, James Calder, William H. Calder (1808-1879), Mary Calder, and Rachel Calder. Hope this helps you. Nancy Shire in Indiana Notify Administrator about this message?
