Hello David:
I have been researching the various Calder families who immigrated to Ontario, Canada prior to the year 1900. Several of these families originated in the Creich/Dornoch area of Sutherlandshire, and may possibly be related to your, William Calder. I was wondering if you know the names of William's parents, or have information on any of his siblings?
Here is a little info on 3 male Calders who seem to be the most likely candidates to be related to your, William Calder:

1)       Robert Calder
Born: September / 1800.
Sutherlandshire, Scotland.
Died: November 14, 1879.
McKillop Township, Huron County, Ontario.
Buried at: Harpurhey Presbyterian Cemetery, Harpurhey Road, Harpurhey, Huron County, Ontario.
Married to: Christena (Christy) Munro.
December 27, 1828 in Creich, Sutherlandshire, Scotland.

2)       John Calder
Born: January / 1801.
Swordale(?), Creich, Sutherlandshire, Scotland.
Died: July 12, 1884.
West Zorra Township, Oxford County, Ontario.
Buried at: North Embro Cemetery, Oxford County Road 6, Embro, Oxford County, Ontario.
Parents: Christena Calder (requires verification; she appears with John’s family in the 1871 census, aged 89, born in Scotland).
Married to: Margaret McLeod.
January 28, 1825 in Tulloch(?), Creich, Sutherlandshire, Scotland.

3)       Alexander Calder
Born: about 1803.
Sutherlandshire(?), Scotland.
Died: September 17, 1844.
Zorra, Oxford County, Ontario.
Buried at: Hillview Cemetery, Woodstock, Oxford County, Ontario.
Married to: Ann Grant.
December 29, 1827 in Dornoch, Sutherlandshire, Scotland.

Regards

John B. Calder
Cambridge, Ontario
