Hello: I have been researching the various Calder families who resided in Ontario, Canada in the 1800's. I believe that the information below relates to your Calders. Profession: - Servant in the employ of Robert Clark’s coffee house business in the 1861 census. - Butcher in the 1871 census. - Employed on the city omnibus line as recorded in the London City Directory 1874 - 5. - General manager of S.P. Co. on the Birth Registration of his daughter Emma in 1877. - Agent in the 1881 census, and railway agent in the 1901 census. - Railway ticket agent in the 1911 census. Place of Residence: - Dundas Street, London on the Birth Reg’n of his daughter Emma in 1877. - 497 Broadway, Winnipeg in the 1911 census. Immigration Record: - The 1901 census records that he emigrated to Canada in the year 1842, and this date is confirmed in the 1911 census. Notes: - His family’s religious denomination is Canada Presbyterian in the 1871 & ‘81 censuses, and Presbyterian in the 1911 census. - The 1901 census records his granddaughter, Ethel M. Calder, in his household. She was born in the U.S.A. on June 2, 1894, and emigrated to Canada in 1898. She is still present in his household in the 1911 census under the name Eva May Calder, born June / 1892, and emigrated in 1893.
